"The Mayan Calendar guy"
Richard Alan Eagle began teaching classes on the Mayan Calendar in 1989.
He was born in Minneapolis and his family lived in St. Anthony Village, where he attended high school and then the University of Minnesota.
His grandfather immigrated from England in 1920 to work at, then later manage, the University of Minnesota experimental gardens in St. Paul, the largest agricultural research center in the world in the 1950s.
In 1989, Richard taught his first Mayan Calendar class at the Lake Harriet Community Center in Minneapolis
In 1992, he wrote a monthly column about the Mayan Calendar for the magazine Sedona Journal Of Emergence while traveling America teaching calendar classes, using the late Dr. Josě Argüelles Mayan Calendar boardgame kit DREAMSPELL.
Dr. Argüelles, author of the 1987 book MAYAN FACTOR: PATH BEYOND TECHNOLOGY, named Richard his "best student," according to Jose's' best friend Willard van de Bogart.
In 1996, Richard published THE MAYAN CALENDAR GUIDEBOOK.
Also in 1996, the internationally syndicated daily American television show STRANGE UNIVERSE produced a news segment on the book.
In 2001, Richard was diagnosed with cancer and went through chemo-therapy, radiation treatments and major surgeries. Currently he is cancer-free.
In November 2009, Richard was interviewed on COAST TO COAST AM, the biggest late night radio show in the world, by host George Noory and Dr. William J. Birnes for discovering "Stonehenge of America," a Stonehenge-like natural rock amphitheater formation at Blue Mounds State Park, Minnesota, in 1990.
Richard is the author ofTHE MAYAN CALENDAR GUIDEBOOK (1996]; e-book STONEHENGE OF AMERICA: BLUE MOUNDS STATE PARK (2017); the screenplay MERRY HUNTERS CLUB (2015); and poetry, CASH ACTION: THE GREAT AMERICAN GAME (1984)

His HOBBIES include:
Playing the maracas, singing, song writing, creating mixed media acrylic paintings, predictive systems analysis, photograper, screenplay writer, poet, stand-up comedian and has published his physics research into high energy plasma gravitational & magnetic dynamic field flows.
The late music artist Idris "Phil" Phillips, record producer, studio musician and the best friend of 1970's rock star legend Cat Stevens (now known as Yusef), said Richard was "the best maraca & rattles musician I have ever heard."
